Indigenous communities, organizations and businesses throughout the province are working to strengthen local food systems to ensure a more sustainable and affordable food supply for people in rural and remote areas.

Lyackson First Nation, Cowichan Tribes and the Province are celebrating a key reconciliation milestone that will enable the return of culturally signifciant land in the Cowichan River valley to two member communities of the Quw’utsun Nation.

The Province is updating limited-entry hunting regulations to sustainably manage B.C. wildlife, respect First Nations’ hunting rights and provide hunters with a diversity of recreational and economic opportunities.

B.C. producers, food processors and seafood businesses can now receive funding to help improve product tracing, meet consumer demands for greater transparency and protect public health.

Data released by the BC Coroners Service shows toxic drugs claimed the lives of at least 192 people in March, and at least 572 lives in the first three months of 2024.
