Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, has released the following statement regarding the filing of the fourth unexplained wealth order (UWO) application:

Following this year’s devastating loss of grapes, B.C. wineries will benefit from temporary support that will allow B.C. wines to be made with grapes and grape juice from outside of the province for the 2024 vintage year.

New agritech projects funded through the B.C. Centre for Agritech Innovation (BCCAI) are supporting more learning opportunities, new jobs and the creation of technologies that will strengthen production of local food. 

Farmers and ranchers are being supported with a new round of funding to help strengthen their resilience to wildfires, flooding and extreme heat, and mitigate future climate impacts.  

Eligible B.C. greenhouse growers will soon be able to obtain a point-of-sale carbon tax reduction to help them preserve their cash flow and continue growing the vegetables and plants British Columbians enjoy.

Owners of restaurants, bars, breweries and wineries will have more time to make outdoor seating areas permanent, allowing them to serve more people without disruption during the patio season.
