Prefabricated classrooms have opened in four schools over the past month, with more underway, adding more than 1,000 new student spaces in growing communities throughout B.C.

Students studying at Vancouver Island University’s (VIU) Nanaimo campus will have access to more on-campus housing beds and a new dining hall, with construction underway.

The Province has launched a new program to support whole-building retrofits for apartments, condominums and co-ops, helping make homes more comfortable and reducing energy bills.

Selkirk College students now have access to new on-campus housing at Castlegar and Nelson-Silver King campuses.

Families in Surrey will have 915 more elementary seats in their community as part of the B.C. government’s plan to expand schools quicker. 

Funding for a new secondary and middle school, on top of a recently completed school addition, will provide approximately 3,000 student spaces for families in the growing Langley community.
