The final legislative session for the 42nd parliament delivered action to help people in B.C. with new laws and measures aimed at easing cost-of-living pressures, delivering more homes for people with middle incomes and improving public health care.

Residents and long-weekend travellers are asked to plan ahead, be FireSmart and stay safe this Victoria Day long weekend.

Premier David Eby and representatives from Meta, Google, TikTok, Snap, and X have issued the following statement:  

People in British Columbia will benefit from projects working to advance community safety, address gender-based violence and support Indigenous healing through funding from the civil forfeiture grant program.

People will be safer on B.C.’s roads with another round of support for 56 more communities that will further help prevent serious injuries and deaths.

The Province is taking action to keep rents affordable for people with a low income in the Downtown Eastside (DTES), preventing as many as 1,000 people from losing their homes.

Families in Coquitlam will see 300 more student spaces in their community, as part of the government’s plan to expand schools faster.

The Province is continuing to take action to keep people and communities safe through new initiatives that help to combat gangs, fight organized crime, and stop criminals from bringing violence and toxic drugs into communities.

ICBC is providing a $110 rebate to eligible drivers through prudent financial management and better-than-expected investment income.
