Garry Begg, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, has released the following statement in response to the Province repealing Restricting Public Consumption of Illegal Substances Act:

The Province will support community organizations that have experienced or are at risk of experiencing hate-motivated crimes with assistance for enhanced security measures and repairs.  

Community organizations throughout the province that have experienced or are at risk of experiencing hate-motivated crimes are encouraged to submit grant applications for the Anti-Hate Community Support Fund.

The Province is taking action against hate-motivated violence in British Columbia by supporting community organizations throughout the province and by providing resources to individuals.

The Province is launching the BC Heat Alert and Response System (BC HARS) to help ensure people, First Nations communities and local governments have the tools they need to stay safe during heat events.
