The Province is making changes to three laws so it can better help people get out of poverty.

Families with low incomes, immigrants and refugees, and seniors struggling to put food on the table in the Lower Mainland will have better access to healthy and culturally appropriate food with $300,000 funding to the Immigrant Link Centre Society.

More people are training for jobs as early childhood educators in the Lower Mainland and Greater Victoria area thanks to a government-funded Community and Employer Partnership project (CEP).

In celebration of B.C. Disability Employment Month, people with disabilities or recovering from a physical injury or mental-health challenge will receive extra help in their recovery and safe return to work thanks to $4 million in funding to the National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR).

People struggling to put food on the table will have better, more reliable access to healthy food with $15 million in funding to Food Banks BC.

People with temporary and permanent disabilities, and seniors, and parents with strollers will benefit from accessibility improvements supported by $5 million in provincial funding to Rick Hansen Foundation.

More newcomers to the province will be able to find rewarding, skilled jobs in their communities through several new and innovative programs offered through the Immigrant Employment Council of BC (IEC-BC).
