Traffic is moving well and safety has been improved for residents and businesses south of the Fraser River following the completion of the Highway 91/17 and Deltaport Way Upgrade Project.

The Kicking Horse Canyon Phase 4 project is nearing completion and the final construction push this fall requires the full extended closure of Highway 1 for two periods totalling 17 days.

People travelling in the Fraser Valley will benefit from a wider Highway 1, better cross-highway connections and more sustainable transportation options, with proposed improvements between the 264th Street Interchange and Highway 11 Interchange now available for public comment.

A request for qualifications (RFQ) has been issued to replace the aging George Massey Tunnel with a new eight-lane, toll-free immersed tube tunnel that will save people time and help move goods faster.

Upgrades and enhancements to key highway rest areas are planned for the summer as part of a multi-year plan to improve safety, accessibility and other amenities along B.C.’s highways.
