Rich Coleman, Minister Responsible for Housing, made the following statement in response to the federal government’s announcement of new home ownership lending and taxation measures:

This week, the door opened for British Columbia’s natural gas industry to go global when the federal government provided approval for Pacific NorthWest LNG. The proposal represents up to $36 billion in new investments, thousands of jobs and an unprecedented economic boon for British Columbia’s future.

PHS Community Services Society has been selected as the non-profit housing society to operate the former Super 8 hotel, which will soon provide safe and secure housing for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Victoria.

The Government of B.C. is committing $500 million to ensure more British Columbian families have access to affordable rental housing, the largest housing investment in a single year by any province in Canada.
