New affordable rental housing is coming to Victoria and Salt Spring Island, thanks to a partnership between the Province, the Capital Regional District (CRD) and Island Health.

In 2013, the City of Vancouver, Brenhill Developments, 127 Housing Society and BC Housing established a partnership to build 162 new units of affordable rental housing to replace 87 units of obsolete housing at the aging Jubilee building, located at 508 Helmcken St.

Provincial funding of $15 million will deliver 40 units of transitional housing and shelter space for men and women in need at a proposed purpose-built development in Mission.

The Province is helping a non-profit society improve the affordability of their Surrey housing development by providing $75,000 per year over a 10-year period.
