The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries has issued the below statement on the current status of mink farming in British Columbia following the issuing of a false news release attributed to the B.C. government this morning:

B.C.’s ranchers can access up to $20 million to help with extraordinary expenses they incur for feed, shelter, animal health and safety, and the transportation of their livestock as a result of this year’s wildfires and drought.

Fairgoers in British Columbia can have some extra fun at B.C. fairs this summer through a new photo contest that celebrates the province’s agricultural sector and Buy BC.

It will be easier for B.C. families to buy, serve and enjoy beef, pork and poultry raised in their own communities under a new meat licensing system that supports farm businesses in rural parts of the province and makes it easier to sell locally raised meat in B.C.

Indigenous leaders and subject matter experts on agriculture and food from throughout British Columbia are working with the Province to increase Indigenous participation in the sector and strengthen Indigenous food systems.

New rules will allow property owners in the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) increased housing flexibility, helping farmers and non-farmers support their families and businesses in their communities.

Indigenous entrepreneurs and communities in B.C. will be able to begin or expand their farming and food businesses through funding available in the next intake of the B.C. Indigenous Agriculture Development Program.
