British Columbia's food producers are looking forward to a new year filled with opportunities as a result of the Province's 2011 record-setting food exports to China, strengthening of the Agricultural Land Commission and the government's role in investing more than $44 million to support B.C. farmers.

The Ministry of Agriculture is inviting British Columbians to contribute to the development of two bylaw standards related to the creation of on-farm energy.

Today, Agriculture Ministers from British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan expressed their support for marketing freedom in anticipation of the third reading of Bill C-18, The Marketing Freedom for Grain Farmers Act.

B.C.'s agricultural land now has even greater protection after legislation strengthening the Agricultural Land Commission became law.
