More than 100 Indigenous-led projects are underway in communities throughout B.C., helping to strengthen local food security and food sovereignty with another round of funding set to open.

Indigenous governments, communities and businesses are increasing their food sovereignty and food security through projects that strengthen their food systems and success within the agriculture and food sector.

Richardson Ranch is celebrating 100 years and seven generations of family history and growth — from being a source of local beef on Haida Gwaii, to including a veterinary clinic and agricultural supply centre, and becoming a source of bulls for ranches throughout B.C.

Local seafood company, Haida Wild Seafoods, is inviting British Columbians to enjoy their local catch with $65,522 of funding from the provincial government’s Buy Local program. The company is aiming to boost sales by increasing promotion throughout B.C.

The Misty Isles Economic Development Society (MIEDS) is promoting fresh local products from Haida Gwaii with a new logo. The Buy Local program is providing MIEDS $5,225 to launch the branding project.

The Graham Island East Coast Farmers' Institute is celebrating over 100 years of farming and agriculture on Haida Gwaii.
