The Government of British Columbia is appointing three new Provincial Court judges to support the judiciary with the resources required to continue providing access to justice.

A sufficient number of indoor spaces to support moving Victoria’s encampment residents inside have been secured through an ongoing partnership between the City of Victoria, the Province and BC Housing.

The Province is extending the current suspension of civil jury trials in the Supreme Court of B.C. by an additional year to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the courts.

Alison MacPhail has been appointed chair of the British Columbia Review Board, effective Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021.

The Province is amending regulations to allow email as a method of service between landlords and tenants, making it easier for people to participate in the dispute resolution process.

A new employer representative, Lorna Pawluk, QC, has been appointed to WorkSafeBC’s board of directors for a two-year term, bringing to the job a strong background and a long track record of advancing worker health and safety.

The Province has extended the lease of the Travelodge until Dec. 31, 2021, in order to ensure its residents are not displaced onto the street or nearby parks.
