BC Rent Bank assistance increased housing stability and prevented homelessness for the vast majority of people who used its services, according to the results of the latest BC Rent Bank Housing Survey.

The Province, together with BC Housing and Atira Women’s Resource Society, is opening 70 permanent homes for people who lost their homes when a fire destroyed the Winters Hotel in Gastown. 

David Eby, Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Housing, and Melanie Mark, MLA for Vancouver-Mount Pleasant, have released the following statement regarding Grace Seniors Home at 333 East Pender St. in Vancouver:

More people experiencing homelessness in Vancouver, including those sleeping at Strathcona Park, will soon have access to a safe, warm and secure place to stay with 24-7 support.

The Province, through BC Housing, is looking at options to revitalize an aging housing complex in East Vancouver.

Leaders of British Columbia’s justice, public safety, mental health, substance use and social services sectors have committed to create an action plan on crisis response and continuity of care. The action plan is scheduled to be complete by November 2017.
