Leaders of British Columbia’s justice, public safety, mental health, substance use and social services sectors have committed to create an action plan on crisis response and continuity of care. The action plan is scheduled to be complete by November 2017.

Leaders of B.C.’s justice and public safety sector came together for a discussion of services and supports to benefit people with mental-health or substance-use disorders who are in contact with the criminal justice system.

Bill 25, the Miscellaneous Statutes (General) Amendment Act, 2016, was introduced in the legislature by Attorney General and Minister of Justice Suzanne Anton.

Following a court decision to allow campers to stay at the Victoria courthouse site through the summer, the provincial government is working with the City of Victoria, along with fire and police officials, to develop a plan for safety standards to better protect people at the site and nearby residents.

Minister of Justice Suzanne Anton marked the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women with the following statement:
