During Anti-Racism Awareness Week, the Province is announcing new community-driven projects to address issues of systemic racism.

Selina Robinson, Minister of Finance, and Rachna Singh, Parliamentary Secretary for Anti-Racism Initiatives, have released the following statement to mark Jewish Heritage Month:

The Province, through BC Housing, has purchased three motels in Penticton as part of a proposed redevelopment plan to preserve and revitalize 105 affordable homes for people with low incomes in the community. 

The Government of British Columbia is appointing a new Provincial Court judge to support the judiciary with the resources required to continue providing access to justice.

The Province is proclaiming May 23-29, 2021, as Anti-Racism Awareness Week – a chance for British Columbians to celebrate and learn about B.C.’s diverse culture, reflect on biases and stand together against racism. 

Annual nominations for the honorary designation of Queen’s counsel (QC) have opened and will be accepted until July 16, 2021.

Nearly 40 new affordable homes are now available for low- to middle-income seniors, couples and individuals in Kelowna, as a new rental apartment building opens.

Six new on-reserve affordable rental homes are now open for Indigenous Elders and families near Fort Rupert, thanks to a partnership between the Province, through BC Housing, and the Kwakiutl First Nation.

New safe and secure homes with around-the-clock supports are available for people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in Dawson Creek, following the opening of a new supportive housing building in the community.
