The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of the man who died when a bridge on which he was standing was swept away by flood waters on June 23, 2012.

The province continues to urge residents to evacuate when emergency officials request it.

High water levels have prompted Kamloops RCMP to close the North and South Thompson rivers to boaters.

People are urged to take precautionary measures during the current threat from flooding as a result of snowpack melting and wet weather in regions throughout the province.

While freshet flooding is the current focus in some parts of the province, increasing temperatures are making wildfires an emerging threat in other regions.
