The BC Coroners Service has confirmed that Bernice Evelyn Adolph, 72, was the woman found deceased in the woods near her local home on June 30, and that she died as a result of a bear attack.

Following heavy rainfall that has caused flooding and damage in the Peace River Regional District, the Province has approved Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) for affected residents, Public Safety Minister Shirley Bond announced today.

Solicitor General Shirley Bond is urging everyone to be cautious around waterways while they are outside enjoying the natural beauty British Columbia has to offer, particularly in the Prince George, Robson Valley, McClure, Blue River and Clearwater areas.

Bill 13, the Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act (No. 2), 2011, was introduced in the legislature today by Attorney General Barry Penner. If passed, the amendments will affect a number of provincial statutes.

As part of Emergency Preparedness Week (May 1-7), the Province wants to remind British Columbians who live in tsunami risk zones what to do in the event of an immediate threat.
