B.C.’s new adoption website, Adopt BC Kids, has attracted 84 prospective adoptive families just six weeks after going live, helping to provide more loving homes for B.C.’s waiting children.

More than 70 B.C. young people who were in government care have applied for extended supports since the expansion of the Agreements with Young Adults (AYA) program mid-October.

Front-line ministry social workers in hard-to-recruit areas of the province will receive an additional $3,000 to $6,000 per year, thanks to a new agreement between government and the BC Government and Service Employees Union (BCGEU).

A final report from the Ministry of Children and Family Development’s special advisor provides 85 recommendations to overhaul British Columbia’s Indigenous child welfare system and improve outcomes for Indigenous children and youth by changing focus from intervention and separation to strengthening families.
