It's the second-leading cause of death for youth aged 15-24 years in B.C. and Canada. By the end of high school, one in five teens will seriously consider it, and one in 10 will attempt it. More B.C. youth die from it than anything else except car crashes. "It" is suicide, and it can be prevented.

To kick off Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Prevention and Support Month, the B.C. government is launching an awareness campaign with new online tools and an interactive quiz to get people of all ages involved.

Young people formerly in government care will be given a chance to help current children and youth in care through a new internship program with the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

Families will now have easy access to information about child-care or early childhood development programs in their neighbourhoods, thanks to the launch of two online maps.

Another key member has joined the Provincial Office of Domestic Violence with the hiring of Inspector Clark Russell from the Victoria Police Department.

Celebrations are always better with dancing, so to help kick off B.C. Child and Youth in Care Week, hundreds of British Columbians are expected to participate in several flash mobs throughout the province to show support for B.C.'s children and youth in government care.
