Youth who have a parent suffering from a mental illness are about to receive support through an innovative program in Victoria.

After further consultation with stakeholders, the Ministry of Children and Family Development has adjusted plans to centralize female youth in custody in Burnaby and reduced the use of police cells for temporary placement of girls in custody.

The Ministry of Children and Family Development has appointed the director of investigations from the Office of the Representative for Children and Youth to lead the newly created Provincial Office of Domestic Violence.

They serve families, children and youth, seniors, criminal offenders, trauma victims and people in need of social services.
