A new connectivity benefits study released by BC Stats finds high-speed internet service expansion to underserved rural and remote communities in northern B.C. can have significant short- and long-term impact for people and the local and provincial economy.

A newly completed cellular connectivity project between Nicolson and Harrogate will provide access to 911 services in the Kootenay region along approximately 25 kilometres of Highway 95, the Kootenay-Columbia highway.

People will be able to move into new homes faster as the Province invests in digital permitting and the construction industry to make the process quicker and more collaborative.

The second intake of the provincial connectivity funding program, Connecting Communities BC, will open for applications on Dec. 16, 2022.
