Students throughout B.C. will soon be learning in safer, improved schools now that more funding is available to school districts.

More funding to improve schools through better ventilation, reduced emissions and increased accessibility is going to school districts around the province with annual capital programs that are creating safer, healthier schools and supporting CleanBC initiatives.  

Students and families are getting a new, larger and seismically safe Moody Elementary school with room for projected growth in the community, as well as new child care spaces.

Better ventilation, electric buses and increasing energy efficiency are some of the benefits for B.C. K-12 students and staff from $240.5 million in maintenance grants this year – a 10.5% increase over last year.

A new, energy-efficient elementary school is coming to the South Newton neighbourhood, giving hundreds of Surrey students a modern place to go to school as more education investments are made to support one of B.C.’s fastest-growing cities.

A new, seismically safe Stride Avenue Community school will give hundreds of students in Burnaby a better learning experience for generations to come and contribute to a reduction in B.C. greenhouse gases.

Hundreds of students and families in Trail will benefit from a new and expanded Glenmerry Elementary school by September 2024.  

B.C. students and families are going to see more green, efficient and safe learning spaces as school districts receive record annual maintenance funding of $217.7 million this year.
