Premier David Eby has issued the following statement marking Pink Shirt Day:

Hundreds of elementary school students in Richmond will soon have safer classrooms as work begins on a full seismic upgrade at Howard DeBeck Elementary School.

Students at Upper Halfway Elementary School will have a new space to grow and play, one which also gives neighbouring communities a gathering space, now that construction is complete on an accessible gymnasium.

The recently renovated Queensborough YMCA Kids Club child care centre is now offering 24 licensed spaces for school-aged children in a facility conveniently located across the street from Queen Elizabeth Elementary School.

Families in the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality are benefiting from a new child care centre with 52 licensed spaces that will give children early learning experiences and allow parents and guardians to work or pursue other opportunities.

Twelve new school additions will mean more student spaces as early as the 2024-25 school year in fast-growing communities across the province.

Kitchener Elementary school will have a new school addition with 15 additional classrooms as early as the next school year to help address enrolment growth in Burnaby. 

Families in Kamloops are benefiting from a new child care centre opening at Ralph Bell Elementary in the Valleyview neighbourhood.
