Students, teachers and staff at Shortreed Community Elementary will soon have a structurally safer school now that seismic upgrades are underway.

Children and their families throughout British Columbia will continue to benefit from local literacy programs with support from the annual Raise-a-Reader campaign Sept 17-24.  

G.W. Graham Secondary students and staff will return from summer break to see construction work underway, bringing them more classrooms and a better learning environment in the near future.

Jennifer Whiteside, Minister of Education, has released the following statement regarding the first day of school:

Students and staff are returning to General Wolfe Elementary and Lord Byng Secondary now that they are seismically safe schools.

This September, every student at BX Elementary in Vernon will have a classroom space thanks to a new 10-classroom addition with room for 240 more students, eliminating the need for portables.  

Children and youth in the Saanich School District who need short-term, specialized educational support are moving into a new seismically safe school right in time for the school year.
