Jennifer Whiteside, Minister of Education, is directing the Chilliwack Board of Education to take specific actions to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive school community for all students following the review of the board by special advisors.

A new school opens in Surrey next week, the third new school this school year in B.C.’s fastest-growing community, providing much needed classrooms for more than 600 students.

Children and youth in the Saanich School District will soon benefit from a new, seismically safe school with expanded mental health resources, as construction on the replacement of the Children’s Development Centre is underway.

Hundreds of students and families in Trail will benefit from a new and expanded Glenmerry Elementary school by September 2024.  

Six regional COVID-19 rapid response teams are now in place to support K-12 schools and school districts with safety plans and exposure assessments. 

The compensation fund is accepting applications online for students who can demonstrate losses or expenses that arose from the June 2019 provincial Grade 12 exam tabulation errors.

Students and staff will be safer in Burnaby schools, thanks to accelerated investments in seismic upgrades and replacements that are complete or underway at four local schools.
