The Province is kicking off B.C. ShakeOut Week with a new, comprehensive earthquake response strategy that builds on emergency preparedness capacity to increase resilience and keep people safe during major earthquakes.

The Government of B.C. is helping communities prepare for flooding and is ready to assist in response to floods where necessary.

Jennifer Rice, Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness, has released the following statement in recognition of Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 9-15, 2022:

The Province and the Capital Regional District (CRD) are launching the Capital Region Tsunami Information Portal to empower residents and visitors to make informed emergency preparedness plans and keep people safe during a tsunami.

Thirty-six communities, including First Nations and local governments, throughout B.C. will receive provincial funding to help prepare for extreme heat and keep people safe.  

British Columbia is donating relief funds to the Canadian Red Cross to provide humanitarian assistance to Pakistan in the wake of devastating floods. 

People in British Columbia who have been evacuated due to ongoing wildfires and require support services are encouraged to register with Emergency Support Services (ESS).
