As more winter weather rolls in provincewide, now is the time for British Columbians to prepare for extremely cold temperatures, power outages and slick streets.  

With recovery efforts still underway in communities affected by severe flooding and highways damaged by flooding and mudslides, the Province is extending the provincial state of emergency.

A strong winter storm is forecast to affect many parts of B.C. from Friday through to Sunday.

The Province is urging people to prepare and be diligent as Environment and Climate Change Canada issues weather alerts for a series of storms with heavy rain, strong winds and snow in some areas.

Highway 3 has reopened for goods movement and people travelling for essential purposes only following a closure to conduct a geotechnical assessment.

A route to the southern interior of British Columbia is open for goods movement and people travelling for essential purposes only, using Highway 7 and Highway 3.

Motorists are advised Highway 7 west of Agassiz has a single lane open to emergency vehicles only.
