On Dec. 9, 2021, Canada and the U.S. conducted the 11th round of negotiations on modernizing the Columbia River Treaty.

Katrine Conroy, Minister Responsible for the Columbia River Treaty, has released the following statement on the next round of treaty negotiations:

George Heyman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, and Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation, have issued the following statement in response to Vancouver International Airport’s (YVR) new Roadmap to Net Zero Carbon 2030 plan:

The Province and BC Hydro have released recommendations from Phase 2 of the BC Hydro Review to get more electric vehicles on the road.

The Province is awarding the second $50-million instalment provided by the federal government to projects that will clean up dormant oil and gas sites.

The Province has amended the Greenhouse Gas Reduction (Clean Energy) Regulation to increase the production and use of renewable gas as well as green and waste hydrogen in British Columbia, generating jobs and economic opportunities while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

A fleet of 65 heavy-duty trucks will be able to make the switch from diesel to hydrogen in northeastern B.C. with support from the Province’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS).

The Province is extending BC Hydro’s Customer Crisis Fund (CCF) to continue providing support for people in financial crisis and help avoid disconnections of their electricity service.

British Columbian homes and workplaces will benefit from more made-in-B.C. solutions aimed at reducing building energy costs and pollution.

The Province is taking action to enhance the Site C Project Assurance Board to strengthen its independence and increase its expertise.
