The International Brotherhood of Electrical Works (IBEW) and the board of BC Hydro have ratified an agreement negotiated under the Economic Stability Mandate.

Following a grueling day of intense competition, three dedicated B.C. mine rescue teams claimed victory this weekend at the 60th annual Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition in Smithers.

Government and Cariboo Regional District officials continue to work together to address the breach at the Mount Polley tailings pond, to test the local drinking water to determine if it is safe for locals to drink or bathe in, and to help ensure the safety and well-being of local residents.

Minister of Energy and Mines Bill Bennett made the following statement in response to the mine tailing pond incident at Mt. Polley Mine:

Environment Minister Mary Polak and Energy and Mines Minister Bill Bennett have issued an Environmental Assessment Certificate to Seabridge Gold Inc. for the KSM project, located approximately 65 km northwest of Stewart.

Real progress continues to be made under the B.C. government's Economic Stability Mandate for 2014 public sector negotiations.

Government is acting on two of its 10 Year Plan commitments for BC Hydro by beginning an independent review of the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) and launching a public rate design review.

Bill Bennett, Minister of Energy and Mines and Minister responsible for Core Review, is directing BC Hydro to release its draft Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) and undertake a final round of consultation with First Nations, key stakeholders and the public.
