People on Salt Spring Island will soon benefit from on-island compost production, moving them closer to meeting their climate-action objectives.

People in the Kitimat area will be able to take positive climate action by turning their food scraps and yard waste into nutrient-rich soil.

British Columbia has led the way in the uptake of zero-emission vehicles in North America, increased the number of public charging stations in the province by 50% in one year, and eliminated the largest fossil fuel subsidy in the province – just three key areas where progress has been made on climate action, demonstrated in the 2022 Climate Change Accountability Report.

George Heyman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, has released the following statement in recognition of Waste Reduction Week 2022:

The Province has released provincial greenhouse gas emissions numbers for 2020 as part of its most recent annual provincial inventory.

New provincial funding is helping First Nations clean up marine debris along the coast of the Great Bear Rainforest and create opportunities for lasting change through community awareness and education.
