Extensive upgrades to the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail are complete, allowing hikers access to the entire 47-kilometre wilderness trail this season.

To recognize Indigenous history and culture, the Power River Watershed Protected Area on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island has been renamed the Hisnit River Watershed Protected Area.

George Heyman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, has issued the following statement with respect to the Government of Canada’s announcement to ban single-use plastics as early as 2021:

The Province has released its quarterly environmental enforcement summaries for the third and fourth quarters of 2018 to provide transparency on action taken against polluters in British Columbia. 

George Heyman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, and Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, have decided to issue an environmental assessment certificate to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project.
