Current weather conditions allow private landowners, BC Wildfire Service personnel and industry partners to reduce wildfire risks by burning piles of wood debris.

Effective at noon on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, the current open burning ban will be completely rescinded within the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, all open fires will once again be allowed across the Cariboo Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, the current open burning ban will be completely rescinded in the Salmon Arm Fire Zone.

Effective at noon (Pacific time) on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 Category 2 open fires will be permitted within the Cranbrook Fire Zone and Category 3 open fires will be permitted in the Columbia Zone of the Southeast Fire Centre due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

In recognition of National Forest Week from Sept. 20-26, 2015, firefighters from the BC Wildfire Service will perform a rapattack (short for “rappel attack”) demonstration at the University of British Columbia’s Thunderbird Commons on Sept. 25, starting at 4 p.m.

Effective at noon on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, Category 2 open fires will once again be allowed throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre’s jurisdiction due to a decreased wildfire risk in the region. Category 3 open fires remain prohibited.

Effective noon (Pacific time) Friday, Sept. 18, Category 2 open fires will be permitted within the Arrow and Kootenay Lake Fire Zones of the Southeast Fire Centre due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Effective at 1 p.m. (Pacific time) on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, Category 2 open fires will be permitted within the Columbia and Invermere Fire Zones of the Southeast Fire Centre due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Effective at noon on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, all open fires will once again be allowed throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.
