The new allowable annual cut (AAC) for West Fraser’s Tree Farm Licence 52 near Quesnel is 592,500 cubic metres, Diane Nicholls, chief forester, has announced.

The Logan Lake Community Forest Corporation has taken top spot in 2019 for community forests, winning a community forestry award along with a $10,000 grant.

The public is invited to provide input on a program that helps to ensure the sustainable management of private forests in B.C. until July 9, 2019.

Forestry contractors and service providers affected by licensee insolvency will benefit from added financial protection now that the Province has contributed another $250,000 to the Forestry Service Providers Compensation Fund.

The BC Wildfire Service and the Tk’emlups Forestry Development Corporation plan to conduct a six-hectare prescribed burn near Goose Lake, near Lac Le Jeune Road and about nine kilometres south of Kamloops.

The new allowable annual cut for Canfor’s Tree Farm Licence 14 (TFL 14) in the East Kootenays will remain at 180,000 cubic metres, announced Diane Nicholls, chief forester.

Under the BC Rural Dividend Program, the Government of British Columbia is providing more than $1.1 million for nine projects in the West Kootenay region.

Amendments to the Forest Act will enhance public trust and ensure public forests are managed in the best interests of British Columbians.
