Effective at noon on May 16, 2014, Category 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

Effective at noon on May 15, 2014, the size of open fires will be restricted in most of the Kamloops Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect the public.

Due to dry conditions and increasing wildfire risks, Category 2 open fires (e.g., backyard burning) and fireworks use will be prohibited in the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek fire zones effective at 12 midnight MST on Monday, May 12, 2014.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations is planning to conduct three prescribed burns in the Lillooet Fire Zone. These controlled burns are scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, and conclude by Friday, April 15, 2014.

FrontCounter BC will begin processing fish, wildlife and park use permit applications through their 29 regional locations effective April 1.

Current weather conditions make it safer for private landowners, Wildfire Management Branch personnel and industry partners to reduce wildfire risks by burning piles of wood debris.

Thanks to a multi-level partnership to enhance the Okanagan's outdoor recreation opportunities, the Highland Trail is receiving upgrades to make it safer and more accessible for residents and visitors.

The Wildfire Management Branch, in conjunction with BC Parks, will be conducting a series of prescribed burns in the Churn Creek Protected Area between Oct. 21 and Oct. 31, 2013, weather permitting.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 15, open fires will be permitted in all fire zones within the Kamloops Fire Centre, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.
