People in the Kootenay-Boundary region will have greater protection from wildfires through a provincial investment in a series of community-led projects.

Two community forest awards, along with $10,000 grants, have been awarded to the West Boundary Community Forest for 2020 and the Westbank First Nation for 2021.

Effective immediately, the allowable annual cut (AAC) level for the Tree Farm Licence (TFL) 56 north of Revelstoke will remain at the level set in September 2010.
