Doug Donaldson, Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, has released the following statement in recognition of National Forest Week, Sept. 22 to 28, 2019:

The BC Wildfire Service plans to burn approximately 10 piles in Joe Rich, west of Philpott Road.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development and Cook’s Ferry Indian Band plan to conduct a prescribed burn on the Shaniken 3 Indian Reserve, located southwest of the community of Spences Bridge.

BC Wildfire Service plans to burn piles of woody debris on the western slope of Dragon Mountain.

Effective at noon (Pacific time) on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be permitted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased risk of wildfires in the region.

Effective at noon (Pacific time) on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, Category 3 open fires will once again be permitted in the Invermere, Cranbrook and Boundary fire zones throughout the Southeast Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, all open fires will again be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

The BC Wildfire Service plans to conduct a series of prescribed burns northwest of Clinton to help restore ecosystems and reduce wildfire risks.

BC Wildfire Service crews are planning to burn piles of woody debris in two locations southeast of 100 Mile House over the next six weeks to reduce wildfire risks in the area.
