To better understand and mitigate the impacts of flooding along the Fraser River and southern coast as identified in Phase One of the Lower Mainland Flood Management Strategy, the Province of British Columbia is working collaboratively with all partners in the strategy and with the Fraser Basin Council by committing $1 million in funding to assist with implementation of Phase Two.

The provincial government is continuing its work to eliminate some of the flood risks in the Britannia Creek watershed by decommissioning Lower, Mineral Creek and Mountain Lake dams this summer.

The public is asked to exercise caution and prepare for localized flooding as water levels in Nicola Lake and river and surrounding streams increase due to rapid snowmelt and recent high temperatures.

The public is urged to take extra care and caution near the Okanagan River due to high water levels.

Okanagan Shuswap District Natural Resource Officers are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for tampering with culverts at Dale Lake, causing a debris flood down Cooke Creek east of Enderby in May 2014.
