Effective at noon on Friday, May 10, 2019, Category 2 open fires will be prohibited throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

North Surrey residents are advised that the second aerial-spraying treatment to eradicate invasive gypsy moths from 62 hectares of residential and municipal park land close to Highway 1 near the Port Mann Bridge, will occur on Monday, May 13, 2019, between sunrise and 7:30 a.m., weather permitting.

The BC Wildfire Service plans to conduct a nine-hectare prescribed burn in the Goat River area as early as Tuesday, May 7, 2019, to help reduce wildfire threats, prepare the area for replanting and enhance wildlife habitat.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, Category 2 open fires will be prohibited within the Prince George and Stuart Nechako forest districts in the Prince George Fire Centre, due to dry and hot conditions in the forecast.
