As part of its ongoing commitment to reduce wildfire threats, the B.C. government is providing more than $53,000 in community resiliency investment grants to support projects on the Sunshine Coast.

One year following the signing of the first-ever tripartite Collaborative Emergency Management Agreement (CEMA), the Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG), Indigenous Services Canada and the B.C. government are announcing the release of a comprehensive wildfire report by the Tŝilhqot’in Nation, setting out findings and calls to action on emergency management practices.

A prescribed burn covering approximately 602 hectares in the Baynes Lake area is planned between April 25 and April 30, 2019, if weather and burning conditions are suitable.

Under the BC Rural Dividend Program, the Government of British Columbia is providing over $1.1 million for five projects in the North and Central Coast regions.

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to four holdover fires in the Cassiar fire zone.

Under the BC Rural Dividend Program, the Government of British Columbia is providing nearly $100,000 to Kootenay Employment Services Society for a project to support employment, business and community in the Creston area.

Given the current and predicted weather conditions in northern regions of the province, the BC Wildfire Service is encouraging members of the public and industry personnel to exercise caution when doing any outdoor burning.
