There are two changes to the area restrictions on the Syringa Complex. 

As a result of work by firefighting crews and recent rainfall, most of the wildfires that make up the Syringa Complex in the Southeast Fire Centre are now classified as “being held.”

A series of area restriction orders remain in effect in the Northwest Fire Centre for the Verdun Mountain, Island Lake, Cheslatta Lake, Nadina Lake, Hautete (Morrison Mainline), Gilmore Lake, Cheslaslie Arm and Torkelsen Lake wildfires.

The 2018 wildfire season has been one of the most challenging in British Columbia’s history, and some areas of the province have sustained considerable damage.

Effective at noon (Pacific time) on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, campfires will once again be permitted throughout the Southeast Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to decreased wildfire risks in the region.

Effective at noon on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, Category 2 open fires will once again be allowed throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

Category 2 and Category 3 open burning is again allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning will once again be allowed throughout the Prince George Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Campfires are, once again, allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre’s jurisdiction as rain and cooler temperatures have reduced the wildfire risk in northwest B.C.

As a result of work by firefighting crews and recent rainfall, a series of active wildfires on northern Vancouver Island are now considered to be under control.
