Effective at noon on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, campfires will be prohibited throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre’s jurisdiction to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

Several fires are burning throughout the Southeast Fire Centre as a result of the recent and ongoing lightning activity in the region.

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a new fire approximately 25 kilometres northwest of Fraser Lake.

Effective noon, Saturday, July 28, 2018, there will be an area restriction order for Crown land in the vicinity of the Placer Lake to protect public safety and the safety of firefighting personnel.  

Drivers are reminded that deactivation work of up to 500 kilometres of permit roads in BC Timber Sales operating areas throughout the Quesnel Natural Resource District begins Monday, July 30, 2018, weather permitting.

Smoke originating from wildfires burning outside of British Columbia is currently widespread within the Northwest Fire Centre.

Effective July 25, 2018, the allowable annual cut for Western Forest Products’ Tree Farm Licence 37 is 847,000 cubic metres.

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to the Beards Creek wildfire, located approximately 5 kilometres north of Parson and Hwy 95, and approximately 34 kilometres southeast of Golden.

Effective at noon on Thursday, July 26, 2018, campfires will be prohibited throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

As of noon on July 25, 2018, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning will be prohibited in Haida Gwaii, although campfires will still be allowed there.
