Saanich residents are advised that the second aerial spraying treatment to eradicate invasive gypsy moths from land around Elk Lake and Bear Hill Regional Park will occur Friday, May 26, between sunrise (5:10 a.m.) and 7:30 a.m., weather permitting.

The BC Wildfire Service is encouraging the public to exercise caution with any outdoor burning.

BC Wildfire Service personnel will be conducting a prescribed for BC Timber Sales in the North Creek area (40 kilometres north of Kaslo) this week, weather and site conditions permitting.

Effective at noon on May 19, 2017, the size of open fires will be restricted in some parts of the Kamloops Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect the public.

Recreational users are advised that the Keyhole Falls hot springs and trail are closed until further notice to all visitors, due to increased wildlife conflicts caused by recreational users.

BC Wildfire Service personnel will be conducting a prescribed burn in the Mt. Buchanan area (11 kilometres west of Kaslo) during the month of May 2017.

Increasing water levels will lead to more flooding this week along the Nicola Lake and river.

Residents along Nicola Lake are asked to take steps to protect their properties from localized flooding, expected to occur later this week.
