The provincial government is providing $3 million to the Brain Injury Alliance to support community brain injury associations throughout B.C.

Health Minister Terry Lake announced $1.5 million in new funding today to support British Columbians living with chronic pain.  

The Province has approved the business plan for the expansion of Eagle Ridge Hospital’s emergency department, more than doubling the number of treatment spaces from 19 to 39.

One thousand high-risk British Columbians will be screened for chronic kidney disease, thanks to $200,000 in funding to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch.

The Province is investing $500 million over the next four years as part of a Ministry of Health action plan to improve care for seniors across the system, including increasing direct-care hours for seniors in residential care.

The Ministry of Health is adding $91.4 million in additional funding over the next three years for emergency health services.

Improving continuity of care for inmates as they move between correctional centres and the community will be a key goal as the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) assumes responsibility for the delivery of medical services at B.C.’s 10 provincial correctional centres on Oct. 1, 2017.

As part of the Province’s work to make sure British Columbians have access to high-quality primary care, 14 additional internationally trained physicians will begin practising in rural and remote communities throughout the province, including five family doctors in the Interior region.
