A new state-of-the-art emergency department and intensive care unit are just two of the improvements people in Richmond will see with more services and better health care as the Province moves ahead with an approved business plan for an expanded Richmond Hospital.

A new state-of-the-art emergency department and intensive care unit at Richmond Hospital will bring more services and better care for people in this growing community. 

The provincial government is supporting planning for a new patient-care tower at Richmond Hospital and the ministry expects work on the business plan could begin in fall 2017.

The Province is providing Richmond Addiction Services Society and Turning Point Recovery Society a combined total of $465,000 to support programs and services for people with mental health and substance use issues.  

Individuals with dementia, their families, physicians and care providers now have new resources to help them better understand and manage the disease and provide a better quality of life for British Columbians affected by dementia.

Seniors and their families now have easier access to all the information they need online and in print with a redesigned SeniorsBC website and a new edition of the BC Seniors' Guide.

The government is funding 190 nurse practitioner (NP) positions over the next three years to provide better access to health care for British Columbian families.

A new, expanded emergency department - the centrepiece of a two-year, $10.2-million renovation project - is now complete at Richmond Hospital.
