New measures are coming to B.C. that will help create more housing as the Province speeds up permitting and helps build more secondary suites for rent.

Seniors in Vancouver now have access to increased housing in their community with 58 new affordable rental homes opening on the Fraser Street corridor.

Seniors living in the 33-unit Harmony House in Vancouver’s Chinatown will be able to stay in their homes because the Province has bought the building to preserve its ongoing use as affordable rental housing.

People experiencing homelessness in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside are moving into new temporary supportive homes, made possible through a partnership between the Province, through BC Housing, and the City of Vancouver.

A new housing project is on the way in Vancouver that will provide 258 rental homes for families, seniors and individuals in the community.

As part of the actions government is taking to deliver homes for people faster, the first cohort of municipalities for housing targets have been selected, paving the way for building more good homes in areas with the greatest need throughout British Columbia.

More people living in single-room occupancy (SRO) hotels in Vancouver will be able to access improved services and supports through a provincial grant of $11 million to the Downtown Eastside SRO Collaborative Society (SRO-C).
