New measures are coming that will improve the ability of local governments to build more affordable, livable communities for people and help tenants facing eviction from redevelopment.

Regulations and policy manuals have been issued to further support local governments as they work in partnership with homebuilders to deliver more homes for people.

Taking action to tackle some of the biggest challenges people in B.C. are facing was at the centre of several new pieces of legislation passed during the fall session, including the most significant housing legislation in B.C. history to deliver more homes for people faster.

As of Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, more employees at B.C.’s agencies, boards, commissions, and a number of Crown corporations will be protected by the Public Interest Disclosure Act.

People at risk of or experiencing homelessness in Fort St. John have access to 42 new homes with supports now that the Northern Centre of Hope West building is open.

More B.C. public sector employees will be protected when bringing forward concerns about serious wrongdoing with the expansion of the scope of the Public Interest Disclosure Act (PIDA).
