Ongoing efforts to make health-care systems culturally safe and accessible for all First Nations Peoples, Inuit and Métis peoples in B.C. and across Canada are being strengthened with the creation of a ground-breaking repository of resources at the National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health (NCCIH).

The Government of B.C. is supporting the shíshálh Nation’s plans to build and operate new culturally appropriate housing for their members, with a particular focus on Elders, women and children, and others in need of affordable housing in their community.  

The Province has transferred three parcels of Crown land to shíshálh Nation.

Six months after ratifying its treaty, the Tla’amin Nation is moving to the next stage in developing a hydroelectric plan that could provide sustainable energy for the community in addition to jobs and training opportunities for its members.

The provincial government and the shíshálh Nation have achieved three agreements that provide the foundation for lasting reconciliation and a strong collaborative working relationship.
