Four First Nations communities in B.C.’s northern and Interior regions will increase their clean-energy sector participation in local projects, thanks to funding from the Province.

Getting more First Nations members job-ready by expanding skills training opportunities is the focus of a new project being undertaken by the Gitxsan Development Corporation on behalf of all Gitxsan communities.

New training programs funded by the B.C. government will help Gitxsan Nation members improve their job readiness and find new career paths in the emerging liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry. 

The B.C. government is providing another $291,030 through the First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund (FNCEBF) to help 11 First Nations' communities to pursue clean-power projects.

The B.C. government and Gitanyow Nation have reached a reconciliation agreement that will lead to shared decision-making and allow the Gitanyow to explore economic opportunities associated with the development of the Northwest Transmission Line.

A small storage, run-of-river hydro facility that will create economic opportunities and help a coastal First Nation get off diesel is one of 11 new projects supported by B.C.'s First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund (FNCEBF).
