The Province is helping improve the environment and enhance access to fishing and shellfish aquaculture development for the Haida Nation through a $20-million investment that will support a new wastewater treatment plant.

Community grants for not-for-profit organizations in northern B.C. will help deliver services so people can be more active, creative and culturally connected.

The Province has confirmed the former Village of Queen Charlotte on Haida Gwaii will be officially recognized as the Village of Daajing Giids (daw-jean geeds), restoring its ancestral Haida name.

A wave of connectivity investments this year will bring improved internet performance and reliability to people living in many of B.C.’s coastal communities.

Families and seniors with lower incomes will soon have access to new, affordable rental homes, with construction underway on a four-unit housing project in the community.

The Province is responding to the urgent need for more housing on Haida Gwaii by creating 19 new homes with 24/7 support services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
